STILL LIFE.
A quarantine short film.
Still Life is a no-budget short made in the first few months of COVID-19. After being indoors for a long period, I chose to film static shots of my house, expressing the frozen state of the world we were living in at the time. A messy room, an unmade bed, a stacked pile of shoes - visually representing the lack of energy felt in lockdown.
The title serves as a double entendre while also alluding to the art form that depicts inanimate objects. Once in the first half of the film in which everything is in disarray (Still Life), and another in the second half where that feeling of hope slowly creeps in, reminding us that although it may seem bleak at the moment, life is always moving forward and happiness could still be felt (Still, Life).
