REMNANTS OF HAPPIER DAYS
When things were perfect. Even if they weren’t.
Remnants of Happier Days is my junior year student film. It follows a couple (played by Slade Monroe and Leven Edgar) through different points in time within their home. From the moment they move in, to the moment they move on, the short captures both the good and bad memories confined in one location.
I came up with this story when I drove past my old house in the valley. As I stared at the property now inhabited by another family, I thought about how just a few years prior, I was the one living there. It perplexed me how places hold a valued history, individually special to those who were a part of those moments. Then I returned to my college house, and again, I thought about the memories associated with the residence and those who used to live there.
Thus, this script was written. Essentially a narrative montage, the film establishes a nonlinear structure with the past flashing back throughout the locations of the present day.
